Ross,

I have organized a rather large and one of the best exhibition spaces here in Sapporo and would like to hook up with you and BEMAC to get Au Indigenous artist to show there work there. This could help with the funding problem from Arts Qld also. The exhibition will be next April and will be for 6 months. I have also lined up several more galleries that want to show contemporary works. The main NPO and BEMAC should work together which will add weight to your grant.

I will put all the details of the event on this site after I send them to you. As for the music, I am organizing the first annual arts festival here in Sapporo so getting bands together both Indigenous and non-Indigenous is taking up allot of my time. There is allot of funding over here and Hokkaido travel is willing to help.

Will keep you posted.

Thx for the info Ross, much appreciated.

Are there any South Sea Islanders coming from Vanuatu or the Solomans? I know that a dance group from Vanuatu came over recently to perform at the Roma St Multicultural Festival. Also can I pass this info onto my ASSI network?

And yes I would like to meet up sometime.

Hi Ross,

Concert in Jan09 sounds deadly. Can you pls pass on the details? Also is their scope for films?

Sounds like it might be a good opportunity to show the ABC/Film Oz documentary Sugar Slaves - The secret history of Australia's slave trade (1995) gives great insight into the history of Australian South Sea Islanders
